2010 Toyota Corolla Earns IIHS Top Safety Pick Award

For the second consecutive year, the Toyota Corolla compact sedan has earned the "Top Safety Pick" award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

The "Top Safety Pick" is the highest safety designation awarded by the IIHS. To qualify, a vehicle must earn the highest ratings in front, side, rollover, and rear impact tests and be equipped with electronic stability control.

The IIHS is an independent non-profit research and communications organization funded by auto insurance companies. The IIHS testing became more comprehensive in 2010 when the rollover test was added to the qualifications. To earn the highest rollover rating from IIHS, a roof must be able to support an amount of weight equal to four times the vehicle's weight, where the government standard is just 1.5 times the weight of the vehicle. In this test, the Corolla's roof withstood 5.1 times its vehicle weight.

All Toyota models meet or exceed the safety requirements of the federal government and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

2010 Toyota 4Runner Earns Highest Crash Rating from IIHS

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has announced that that the all-new Toyota 4Runner mid-size sport utility vehicle (SUV) has earned its highest ranking of "good" in their frontal offset high-speed crash ratings.

IIHS frontal crash-worthiness evaluations are based on results of 40 mph frontal offset crash tests. A vehicle's overall frontal evaluation is based on measurements of intrusion into the occupant compartment, driver seat test dummy injury severity, and the level of restraint system dummy movement during the test.  By comparison, frontal crash testing by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is performed at 35 mph.

Conicelli Toyota Extends Mr. Nice Guy Contest

Conicelli Toyota in Conshohocken has extended the wildly successful Conicelli Mr. Nice Guy magnet contest through March 31, 2010.

Vehicles bearing the magnets have been spotted in locations such as Philadelphia, King of Prussia, Malvern, West Chester, Lafayette Hill, and Norristown, all the way to Lansdale, Doylestown, Cherry Hill, Delaware, and even south Jersey!

Winners have received a gift card just for displaying the signature magnet on their vehicle, and being spotted by a member of the Conicelli Management team. Some participants have enjoyed being videotaped by the Conicellicam as they receive their prize. Videos are posted on the Conicelli YouTube channel.

Conicelli Toyota offers the magnets free of charge at the Conshohocken location, 550 Ridge Pike. No purchase is necessary to enter the I Spy Mr. Nice Guy Contest. A magnet can be obtained at the showroom, service department, or body shop, or by email, and simply asking for a free "I Spy Mr. Nice Guy" magnet.

The participants have to have an "I Spy Mr. Nice Guy" magnet displayed on the exterior of their vehicle. If a member of the Conicelli management team spies an "I Spy Mr. Nice Guy" magnet on a vehicle, the owner is contacted and has the opportunity to receive a gift card as a prize.

Complete rules can be found by clicking on any of the gamepiece buttons visible throughout the Conicelli dealership websites, or contact Lori Hammond, Internet Director of Sales, 610-828-1400, ext. 1208.

Conicelli Toyota of Conshohocken finished 2009 with a record sales volume result. The Philadelphia-area dealership sold 408 new Toyotas in December, 2009, first among all dealers in the Central Atlantic Toyota Region.

In the state of Pennsylvania, Conicelli Toyota's sales were first place for the year based on sales volume reported by Toyota Motor Sales.

This was the most cars ever sold in one month by a Conicelli dealership, and the first time Conicelli Toyota has ever reached first place in the Central Atlantic Toyota Region for any month, according to data received from the CATD. For the year (according to sales volume reported by Toyota Motor Sales), Conicelli Toyota of Conshohocken finished in sixth place in Toyota's Central Atlantic Region.

The achievement follows a year which the Detroit Free Press called "the worst year in decades for the auto industry." (Source: http://www.freep.com/article/20100105/BUSINESS0104/100105086/1331/BUSINESS01/Ford-roars-as-industry-rings-up-strong-Dec.-sales).

Conicelli Autoplex Vice President of Sales Michael Hammond commented, "This was a total team effort, and we could not have done it without all of them."

Conicelli Toyota Sales Manager Steve Knickerbocker cited the Camry and Corolla as the dealership's two top selling models during December.

Toyota Division reported December sales up 24.7 percent over December 2008. Passenger car sales, led by the Camry and Camry Hybrid, were up 34.6 percent over the year-ago month, with year-end sales down 17.4 percent from last year. Corolla, Prius and RAV4 were the other top selling models in the Toyota Division. (Source: http://pressroom.toyota.com/pr/tms/toyota-reports-december-and-2009-150487.aspx?ncid=11092).

Following Toyota's confirmation of Conicelli Toyota's results, the dealership held a celebration dinner where the top sales people were invited to participate in a game for prizes such as Superbowl and other sports event tickets, gift cards to local retail businesses, camcorders, iPods, and cash. Photos of the event are posted on Conicelli Autoplex's Facebook.

Conicelli Toyota| First PA Auto Body Shop Certified for PPG/Waterborne Use

Conicelli Toyota is the first auto body shop certified for PPG/Waterborne use in Pennsylvania.

Using PPG's Waterborne paint helps improve the environment. For a shop that mixes an average of one gallon of basecoat per week, using waterborne automotive paint reduces the emission of VOCs (Volatile organic compounds) by 300 pounds annually.
That's the same as eliminating the emissions of more than 1,000 cars per year.
At Conicelli this process eliminates appx.18,000 lbs. of VOCs annually, that would otherwise end up in our atmosphere. That compares to the emissions of 60,000 cars.

Global Finishing Systems Auto Painting

By controlling the speed of the motors for optimum performance, a VFD (variable frequency drive) provides huge energy savings that were previously unattainable.
All heated booths at Conicelli Body Shop include single or dual VFDs for better performance and energy savings.
By using Orion's leading-edge lighting products, Conicelli saves energy and reduces by 66 percent the amount of harmful greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere.

Conicelli Service Shops

We recycle approximately 4200 tires a year, the material of which is then used in athletic and recreational areas, alternate fuel sources, and rubber mulch for landscaping.
Ground up tires even find their way back to your car in the form of automotive parts, like exhaust hangers, brake pads, brake shoes, and acoustic insulation; a low percentage goes into making new tires.
We recycle approximately 1400 car batteries per year, of which nearly 100% of the raw materials are used for other products. (Glass cleaner, new plastic cases, etc.)
We collect approximately 10 tons of cardboard materials annually to be recycled.
This reduces the demand for new paper from virgin pulp, thereby saving trees and decreasing the amount of pollution generated in new paper production. Also because cardboard is such a bulky waste, recycling it saves significant amounts of space in landfills and reduces pollution in areas where trash is incinerated.
Annually Conicelli shops recycle appx. 53,000 gallons of motor oil via Lorco Petroleum Services, thus converting it into fuel oil that not only meets but exceeds USEPA standards.

At Conicelli Toyota we are committed to reducing our footprint on the environment while still providing superior service.
